Beatification H.E. Cardinal Tisserant inaugurated the diocesan process for her beatification on 2nd December 1953. A miracle wrought through her intercession was also formally approved by the Pope on 6th July 1985.

Providence has been pleased to bestow on this generation the grace to witness a daughter of the soil, a seed of the ancient
Christian community of Kerala and India, beatified (8th February 1986) in her homeland by the Supreme Pontiff during his visit to this
chosen land.

Mathew Kadalikkattil - Servant of God

Fr. Mathew Kadalikkattil was born at Edappady near Pala on 25th April 1872 as the second son of Cherian Kadalikkattil and Rosa of Paikada Urumpel, a God fearing couple. He was brought up in a serene atmosphere of peace, love, filial obedience and fraternal amity. He responded to the voice of God calling him to priesthood, joined the Seminary and he was ordained as a priest of God on 11th Feb.1901. Fr. Mathew himself was an ardent lover of Sacred Heart. He saw his fulfillment in making it real by practicing an equally strong love for his fellowmen
He worked amidst for the parishioners for their spiritual and temporal welfare with the affectionate solicitude of a mother and the prudent concern of a father. As a parish priest he was very much like the Cure De Ars who spent long hours in the Confessional and brought about changes in the lives of many sinners and promoted ovations to priesthood as well as religious life. In his attempt to emulate his master who had compassion on the multitude he identified two particular sections of the Community as deserving his special consideration.

One consisted of the poor young women including widows and the other consisted of what may generally be described as the destitute orphaned children and aged men and women. In order to spread the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and as a solution to both the problems he spent long hours on his knees before the blessed sacrament and finally he was inspired to begin a new religious congregation for women known as Sacred Heart Congregation on 1st of Jan. 1911. Now this congregation has spread all over India spreading to more than 3000 members, 9 provinces and two regions. It was his simple trust and dependence on providence that kept him always confident of the ultimate realization of his plans. He reflected the peace, love and forgiveness that shone in the Heart of Jesus.

he found the poor, the suffering, the sick, the disabled, the downtrodden, the insulted, the aged and the destitute in the society as his own brothers. He wanted to be a sure and safe abode or haven for all of them. They easily detected a saviour in him and the needy unburdened their grieves before him. All who had any contact with him felt that he was a man of God. As a parish priest he served the parishes of Pala Cathedral Lalam New and Old, Karoor and Kannadiyurumb. He was a selfless worker bent on doing good to the other person and his hard work made him sick and he was called to eternal rest on 23rd May 1935. Many devotees and the members of the Sacred Heart Congregation sought his intercession and they all felt satisfied. Canonization process started and he was called Servant of God on 14th May 1989.

TEMPLES
Kadappattoor

The main temples of Pala and surroundings are Kadappattoor Mahadeva temple, Lalam Siva temple, Ambalappurathu Devi temple, Puliyannoor Mahadeva temple, Oorasala Subramania Temple, Murikumpuzha Devi Temple, Puthiakavu Devi Temple and Chembittambalam of Chethimattom.
The emergence of Kadappattoor Mahadeva temple is a wonderful incident. On July 14th of 1960 a woodcutter was cutting a huge tree. When half of the tree was cut, the tree fell to the opposite side. To the wonder of the woodcutter a huge beautiful stone idol of Siva emerged from inside the tree. The news of appearance of the Shiva idol spread like a lightning through the middle  Travancore.
Thousands of Pilgrims came to Kadappattoor to worship Lord Siva. Gradually a temple was constructed in the North Indian style. Gradually Kadappattoor has become a pilgrimage shelter for the Shabarimala Pilgrims. This temple is situated on the banks of Meenachil River. Elaborate arrangements are provided for the pilgrims by the temple authorities.Lalam Mahadeva temple and Ambalappurathu Devi Temple are situated at the center of Pala municipal town. The Mahadeva temple is being renovated by the Travancore Devaswam Board. Anakkulangara Devi temple and Puliyannoor Mahadeva temple are other Pilgrim centres of Sabarimala devotees.

   ANAKKULANGARA DEVI TEMPLE

These temples are situated about two kilometers to the west of Pala town. They are the "Paradevatha" temples of Tamil Chetties who were the original Merchants of Pala. The Cathedral Church is situated in the land donated by the Palathu Chetty as per the instructions of the Meenachil Karthas who were the rulers at that time. Palathu Chetty was the most prominent merchant of that time. The name Pala town emerged from the name of Palathu.
